For those who like to sail in and around the Greater Vancouver inlet and area. The proposal of Royal Vancouver Yacht Club’s Coal Harbour Marina Expansion Project may be of great interest to you.
The RVYC’s Coal Harbour Marina is located @ 950 Stanley Park Drive. You can locate the harbour right away to the west of Deadman’s Island or east of the Vancouver Rowing Club. Stanley Park is right away north in location to the marina.
According to the RVYC website “The purpose of the proposed project is to retrofit, improve, and expand the existing marina. The proposed project would expand the marina from 326 to 372 slips to accommodate an additional 46 vessels. 37 boat sheds would be removed and replaced with new boat sheds of the same design specifications with no net increase in the boat shed numbers on site. Floats are to be replaced and/or reposition, 89 creosote piles are to be removed and disposed of and 24 cylindrical steel piles are to be removed and reused. An additional 110 new steel piles will be installed during the proposed project. The existing water lot lease is proposed to increase to accommodate the expansion. The total project area is approximately 43,000 m2 (462,848 sq. ft) which includes the water lot expansion area of 8,553 m2 (92,063 sq. ft).”
