Spring Cleaning Helpful Tips For Those Thinking Of Selling This Spring
1) Don’t Forget About Exterior House Cleaning
When it’s time to move or sell, give your home’s exterior a good cleaning. This is the homes first impression for those excited buyers. When it comes to the inside of your home, most people will usually stick to a pretty regular cleaning schedule. It’s easy to forget that the outside of your home needs some TLC (Tender Love and Care) too! After a this long cold wet winter, all sorts of dirt, grime, mold, mildew, and other nasty substances can collect on your siding, windows, walkways, patios, and more. You don’t need to only do this when selling only either. Cleaning your siding/exterior of your home regularly extends it’s life and adds instant curb appeal to your home.
House Washing Don’t Just Pressure Wash!
If you have expensive and nice looking siding you may want to try a soft wash or hand wash prior to pressure washing. Both methods are effective but pressure washing on certain surfaces can ruin it and you will end up spending a lot of repair rather than making a lot on the sale of the house. For vinyl, wood and delicate surfaces, hand wash or soft wash is preferred and for more robust surfaces, power washing does the trick.
Don’t Forget The Windows
Windows, skylights, storm windows, french doors, and glass panels can shine as the buyers walk up to the home. Make them glimmer in their eyes. If you have a view this is a must to capture top dollar for your home.
Gutter & Eavestroughs May Be Inspected
Keeping your gutters clean is one of your home’s most important ongoing maintenance projects. In a buyers market an offer you can expect from the buyers will be subject to inspection. You bet your bottom dollar the inspector with check to make sure you have clean gutters for funnel water off your roof and it is dispensed safely into your perimeter drainage system, keeping it from causing damage to your home.
Roof Cleaning & Moss Removal
Brighten up a dull looking roof and add instant curb appeal to your home, as well as lengthen the life of your roofing material should you decide after the clean you don’t want to move! lol. If you’ve noticed any green, fuzzy patches on the outside of your home, the potential buyers will too.

2) Interior Cleaning: Attention To Detail Can Make or Break Your Top Dollar Home Sale
Home inspectors are trained to look at every single nook and cranny of your home. Yes they are looking for faulty wiring and leaking plumbing but they will also notice in behind the kitchen cabinets or bathroom shelving for old water marks that haven’t been cleaned up since your mother was visiting the summer before last. If you are unable to dive into those tiny forgotten areas don’t be afraid to hire help. Just make sure your cleaner is licensed and has insurance as your run of the mill cleaner may not know what chemicals to use and end up hurting the home instead of helping to spiff it up for listing.
3) Garbage Removal & Decluttering
There’s nothing worse than that old 1987 rusted out motorhome in the backyard you were always supposed to get around to restoring that is still sitting there while potential buyers walk through the backyard. We will both know its your project you promised to do years ago and you will do it very soon. Especially once your mortgage free and retired after the sale. However, it’s an eye sore for potential buyers. Same goes all the old furniture in your home and boxes in your garage. Scrap the junk or move it until it sells. There are a number of junk removal services you can call for privately removed junk and some offer sea can rentals should you be adamant on keeping some of the contents.
