Today we stopped in for breakfast with friends at a cozy little restaurant/cafe called Humble Roots in Maple Ridge. I ordered the Hopcott Benny which was absolutely smothered in Hollandaise Sauce and loaded with beef bacon! I’ve never tried beef bacon before… it had almost a jerky taste to it…the beef bacon combined with the fried mushrooms and onion was a fantastic breakfast and an amazing way to start the day before our walk down the Maple Ridge Dyke trails. My partner ordered the classic breakfast, as she was quite hungry being in her third trimester of pregnancy and she wanted a hearty meal to start the day. She felt the classic breakfast was filling, the food was hot when served and cooked just right. Exactly what she wanted! Our friends ordered the waffles which came soft in the inside, crunchy on the outside and warm all around with blueberry and whip cream for seasoning toppings. Her partner ordered the Canuck breakfast sandwich which was too big for him to finish and fresh!
I have to say this by far is now our favourite breakfast joint. You do have to time it right though as the name humble roots isn’t just a clever name. It’s a smaller size place to eat, which fills right up on a Sunday morning in the winter. I’d imagine in the summer it may be a bit easier to get seats, as there appears to be an outdoor patio area for dining. However, in this very cold March weather.. we all had to sort of cram into a small eating area to enjoy some great tasting fresh food. Oh and the coffee wasn’t half bad either and the service was on point. Well done humble roots. We highly suggest visiting if in the area or heading to the dykes for a nice walk. You won’t regret it! Just plan for a small line up to get seats!
