Upgrades Coming to Surrey Central Station
Surrey Central Station is about to receive a facelift funded by TransLink and the Provincial and Federal Government. The Facelift Construction is supposed to begin in the spring and finish by the end of 2018.
With an estimated amount of 12,000 Surrey Central SkyTrain Station riders each weekday the Station is in need of some necessary upgrades or facelifts. This is a massive route for many daily commuters as it works as a connecting point for 21 bus routes and is the busiest transit hub south of the Fraser River! Not to mention that there is so much construction going around the Station that the 12,000 current commuters daily will likely double in the coming years.
The New Surrey Central Station Facelift is Going to Include:
- A new north station house that connects to a reconfigured bus exchange to make it easier to connect to and from the SkyTrain system.
- 3 additional escalators, new stairs, and one additional elevator to improve access for customers with disabilities.
- Bike lockers for commuters trying to leave a greener carbon footprint
- Much more
